Jamiella Brooks is a Black mother-scholar, first gen multilingual, and first gen Ph.D. She is at the University of Pennsylvania as an Associate Director at the Center of Teaching and Learning, and teaches alternating years in the French and Linguistics departments. Her website and project is anticolonialpedagogy.com. She is a co-author of an article in Faculty Focus, “A Call to Interrogate Educational Development for Racism and Colonization,” and “Dissertating While Parenting: Not a Contradiction.” She has an article in the 2020 second edition of Presumed Incompetent: Race, Class, Power, and Resistance of Women in Academia, and is featured in a Chronicle article on Academic Rigor and Inclusion.
