Guest Facilitator or Speaker, Open Education and Digital Literacies

I taught writing at City College of San Francisco, a public two-year college, for 17 years and now teach at College of Marin and Cañada College. My collection AI Text Generators and Teaching Writing: Starting Points for Inquiry is featured in the Writing Across the Curriculum Clearinghouse and includes a curated collection of articles on AI in higher education, sample AI essays, sample policies, and course materials. As a consultant for OpenAI, I tested GPT-4 before its release.  I have written an Open Educational Resource (OER) textbook, How Arguments Work: A Guide to Writing and Analyzing Texts in College, and I serve as the English Discipline Lead for the California community colleges OER Initiative. My writing on AI has appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed.

Why I’m in MYFest: I have been basking in the MyFest glow from afar on Twitter for too long! I am inspired by many MyFest leaders and looking forward to meeting more!

MYFest involvement: I’ll be leading two interactive workshops on AI: “Using ChatGPT for help with our teaching, writing, and administrative work” and “Using AI writing feedback to supplement human feedback.”
