Felecia Caton-Garcia

Co-facilitator, Co-organizer, Critical Pedagogy & Social Justice, Open Education and Digital Literacies, Wellbeing and Joy

I am faculty in American and Chicana/e/o Studies at Central New Mexico Community College where I am currently serving as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategist.

I am a queer Chicana mother, teacher, writer, and equity and justice consultant and educator. I write and publish poetry and fiction, including a full-length collection of poetry Say That published by the University of New Mexico Press, and a recent publication in A Larger Reality: Speculative Fiction from the Bicultural Margins. I currently live in the South Valley of Albuquerque, NM on traditional Pueblo homelands with two dogs, three cats, and a garden.

Why I’m in MYFest

Because I believe that if we can imagine a more just, loving, caring, and connected world, we can create it. And I believe that teaching and learning is a place where this kind of radical imagining and community-building can thrive.

MYFest involvement: Co-organizer and co-creator and co-facilitator of What If? Speculative Fictions and the Future of Teaching and Learning and Dark Matter y La Facultad: Liberatory Knowing and Practice
