Rissa Sorensen-Unruh
Since 2002, I’ve been a full-time chemistry instructor at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque, NM. I’m also a Ph.D. candidate in Learning Sciences at the University of New Mexico. My STEM education research, which I frequently write about and present, blends practitioner and researcher roles and focuses on assessment and evaluation, specifically ungrading, ethics in assessment, and critical quantitative methodologies.
I live and play with my wife Karen, my son Jack, and my dog Sammy in Albuquerque, NM.
Why I’m in MYFest
Because MYFest sprung from innovative design and joy.
MYFest involvement: Co-organizer, program manager, facilitator of Ungrading as Emancipation: Theory and Practice track and co-facilitator of the Storying Our Grief Through Hope, Efficacy, Resiliency, and Optimism workshop and STEM pedagogies conversations
