Sushilla Knottenbelt

Critical Pedagogy & Social Justice, Guest Facilitator or Speaker

I’m a chemistry educator and faculty lead for the University of New Mexico Student Experience Project.  My interests and expertise involve applying evidence-based strategies to create classroom environments where every student can succeed, both in my own classes and in collaboration with faculty across disciplines. My life map so far is in reverse alphabetical order, born in Zimbabwe, via York, UK (for degree and PhD) and now in Albuquerque, NM where I live with my multigenerational family and troublesome Jack Russell terrier, Sparky.

Why I’m in MYFest: A chance to engage with, learn from and share my learning with a like-minded group of folks who care and think deeply about their students and how their experience in our classroom impacts their learning and lives.

MYFest involvement: I’ll be facilitating a session  ‘Attending to the Student Experience in a Gateway STEM Classroom’ on June 23rd, 2023 from 1-2.30pm EDT, 5-6.30pm UTC, 8-9.30pm Cairo in the Critical Pedagogy and Social Justice Stream.
